El 1 de enero del próximo año, el yuan chino se convertirá en moneda oficial en Zimbabue luego de las discusiones mantenidas entre los dos gobiernos durante una visita de estado del presidente chino.
Esto hará que la moneda china sea igual en Zimbabwe al dólar estadounidense, el rand sudafricano y la pula de Botswana, sin que el euro desempeñe ningún papel en esta ecuación, tal vez un recordatorio agudo de la negatividad que la Unión Europea ha mostrado contra Zimbabwe.
China se ha convertido en el mayor socio comercial de Zimbabwe y las inversiones se están expandiendo, luego de la visita del presidente Xi JinPing al país hace algún tiempo.
